Greater New Britain Chamber assists city in securing $5000 economic development grant

The city of New Britain has received a $5,000 economic development grant from Connecticut Natural Gas. The grant, which was made to the Municipal Economic Development Agency and the Chamber of Commerce, was presented to Mayor Timothy O’Brien at  a meeting in his office recently.

O’Brien thanked CNG, as well as United Illuminating for their generosity and credited Bill Carroll, the city’s Business Development Coordinator for his work in securing the grant. O’Brien said the  grant will be used for marketing the city’s available commercial spaces as well as businesses services available to new or existing business.

O’Brien also thanked the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain, for its assistance in acting as the fiduciary agent for the grant.  “This is another example of the great teamwork we have been able to foster between the public sector and tie private sector on behalf of economic development in our city,” said O’Brien

“The generosity of CNG and United Illuminating, along with the support from the Greater New Britain Chamber and the Community Foundation has resulted in a generous grant that will enable us to better communicate all that we have available for businesses here.”

“My thanks go to everyone involved,” O’Brien said.
