Chamber Breakfast looks at hidden costs in healthcare tax

Chamber President will speak on NBC 30 TONIGHT!

Hidden taxes and costs in the new federal healthcare legislation was on the menu at a breakfast this morning hosted by the Greater New Britain Chamber of Commerce; New Britain/Berlin.

Presented in partnership with the National Federation  of Independent Businesses (NFIB) organization  and Capital Strategies Group of Hartford, the breakfast was aimed at small and medium-sized member businesses to illuminate how the present healthcare  legislation will adversely impact their bottom line.

“As much as businesses and employees talk about  the skyrocketing cost of healthcare in Connecticut and across the nation, there are so many more hidden pitfalls and financial jeopardy that they don’t know about.

“One of areas we specially wanted to talk about today was the Health Insurance Tax (HIT) which could add as much as $500 per employee starting in  2014.”

WVIT, NBC 30 will air an interview from this morning with Chamber President, William Millerick on tonight’s local news.

“This is an issue that impacts almost every one of our hundreds of members in New Britain and Berlin. Based on the success of this morning’s breakfast, we think we’ll schedule a luncheon in early summer to make the information and experts available to more members,” Millerick said.
