Mattabassett District breaks ground on $100M nitrogen removal project

The Mattabassett District broke ground Wednesday, June 13th on it’s $100 million nitrogen removal project that is expected to improve the effluent quality and provide increased capacity for the waste water treatment plant.

Among those in attendance were William P. Candelori, Ph. D., Chairman of the Mattabassett Board of Directors, in addition to, DEEP Commissioner Esty & Brian Armet.  Board members in attendance included Angelo D’Alfonso, Gerry Amodio, Peter Centurelli, and John P. Valengavich.  Missing from photo is board member, Edward Sasso.

The project will be built by C.H. Nickerson  and Company and will take three years to complete.  The expanded plant is expected to be fully operational in 2015.
