More than 125 in attendance at the Chamber’s Community Breakfast for Kelt Cooper & John Willi

The Greater New Britain Chamber of Commerce: New Britain, Berlin in conjunction with COMCAST, hosted a “Welcome to New Community Leaders” breakfast on August 9th to officially welcome the new Superintendent of New Britain Schools, Kelt Cooper and the president of the New Britain Rock Cats, John Willi!

More than 125 attended the chamber breakfast held on August 9th

More than 125 chamber members, city representatives, business owners and city residents were in attendance to hear the two featured guests speak about their various ideas and goals for their future and the future of New Britain.  The breakfast was held at CCSU’s ITBD building and a full hot breakfast buffet was provided by SODEXO.  Guests were given the opportunity to partake in a question and answer session at the end of the program.

Superintendent Kelt Cooper explained that “The first and most important thing is schools need to clean, safe and orderly.  We need to roll up our sleeves and get to work.”  According to Board of Education President Sharon Beloin-Saavedra, Cooper has “hit the ground running.”  She explains “The school board had an 18 month search to find a new superintendent and he rose to the top quickly.”

The new president of the New Britain Rock Cats, John Willi also addressed the crowd of 125 attendees.  Willi who had worked for the Rock Cats from 2000 to 2010 before leaving to work with DSF Sports and Entertainment explained that when he had the incredible opportunity to come back  “the decision was a no- brainer.”

“The Rock Cats mean so much to this city.” Chamber President Bill Millerick explained.  “There is no better family entertainment in the state.”
